Speaking with Mike "Joker" Guyman
The other day I had the opportunity to speak with Mike “Joker” Guyman. As many of us know here in Southern California, Mike is a local fighter who is respected for his Jiu-Jitsu skills. He has been fighting in the King of the Cage with his only loss coming from UFC great Diego Sanchez. Mike is the only fighter who is currently sponsored by Tap Out clothing.
Speaking with Mike he told me that he is now leaving KOTC and looking to move over to Pride fighting. In order to prepare himself for Pride, Mike has been training with some of the best in the game. He has spent time perfecting his ground game with Jiu-Jitsu great Jeremy Horn. When he is not working on his ground game, he is training with former world Thai-boxing champion Joe Arce. Mike is currently relocating his gym in South Orange County where he has a strong local following of students.
I have had the opportunity to work out with Mike on several occasions. Mike has a phenomenal ability to shoot in and take his opponent to the ground. When Mike is on his back his use of the butterfly guard is among the best I have seen. Mike is a fighter to watch, with his excellent skills and eclectic look and ring presence he is sure to be the crowds favorite at any fight.
